Promo codes and cashback: what to know
Publicado el 24 de octubre de 2026
The difference between a promo code and cashback, how these sites make money, and why combining them is not always possible.
A promo code and cashback share the same goal, paying less, but they work differently. Here is the difference and what can go wrong when you mix them.
The difference
- A promo code lowers the price at payment, on the store's own site.
- Cashback gives you part of the purchase back later, once the store has validated the order.
How these sites make money
Promo code and cashback sites are usually affiliates: when you buy after clicking their link, the store pays them a commission through an affiliate network. It does not change your price. This is the case for Reducart, detailed in our affiliate disclosure page.
Can you combine them?
Not always. Some stores exclude combining a code with cashback. A code found elsewhere can also void cashback tracking: the cashback site's terms describe what is allowed.
Before buying, read the cashback terms and the code's terms. When in doubt, prefer the code's immediate reduction, which shows in the total right away.
