How to recognise a reliable online shop
Published October 24, 2026
Legal notice, payment methods, reviews, prices that are too low: what to check before ordering from a site you do not know.
Not every site with a very low price is a scam, but two minutes of checks avoid most bad surprises.
Before ordering
- The legal notice: company name, address, registration number and a way to contact them. Their absence is a bad sign.
- The site address: a typo in the domain name, or a name imitating a big brand, should alert you.
- Prices: a 70% discount on a highly sought-after product is rarely real.
- Payment: prefer a card with the authentication your bank requires, avoid a bank transfer to a stranger.
- Reviews: look for them on third-party sites, not only on the shop's own site.
If you were cheated
Contact your bank quickly, keep the evidence (order, messages, screenshots) and report the site on SignalConso, the French administration's service for reporting a problem with a business.
